Intersection of art history and diversity
A writer and lecturer on art history and the history of visual culture in the United Kingdom and Italy, Kevin Childs has been awarded fellowships at the Dutch Institute in Florence and the British School in Rome.
He has devised and contributed to courses at London’s Victoria and Albert Museum, and taught on the Art History and Visual Culture BA course at Exeter University. He leads specialised tours of Rome, Venice and Italy, and has been published in The Independent, The Times, The New Statesman and Huffington Post.
Kevin studied English Language and Literature at Christ Church, Oxford, followed by post-graduate studies at the Courtauld Institute of Art in London.
Kevin is also a specialist in LGBTQ+ history, with a particular focus on LGBTQ+ artists and poets, the struggle to end discriminatory laws, and the AIDS pandemic. He is part of the Arts Committee for AIDS Memory, and was instrumental in setting up the first Professorship in LGBTQ+ history at the University of Oxford.
