CONSERVING BHUTAN'S BIODIVERSITY

An innovator who is transforming Bhutan’s farming culture, Sangay Rinchen, who is commonly known as 'Farmer Sangay', invites earth-conscious explorers to join him in sensible food sourcing through learning the importance of respecting the surrounding local communities and honouring nature.

Deep in Punakha, Sangay heads up his fourth-generation family farm, Happy Hill Farm – an initiative that aims to become a global blueprint for regenerative farming practices and sustainable living. There, he nurtures planetary health and forages for wild edible orchids. Foraging provides an estimated 50% of annual food for Sangay’s local community, and in recent years there has been a larger demand for the unique seasonal fruits and vegetables he unearths.
