UNTOLD VENICE: WOMEN IN ART
Venice
UNVEILING VENICE'S ARTISTIC HERITAGE
Underpinning Venice’s extraordinary art history, the contribution of its female artists is a fascinating and often overlooked legacy. Embark on a journey through some of the city’s most evocative sestieri (neighbourhoods) to experience Venice’s greatest architectural and artistic treasures from a fresh perspective.
With exclusive access to a dazzling baroque palazzo and visits to renowned galleries after-hours, uncover the story of the female artists who have influenced the Floating City’s creative canvas, and stand alongside female gallerists and artists forging Venice’s cultural identity today.

DAY ONE - ARRIVAL
Arriving into Venice Marco Polo Airport, transfer by private boat to your accommodation. Enjoy dinner at leisure.

DAY TWO
Accompanied by an expert guide, explore the neighbourhoods of Cannaregio and Castello, treasure troves of artworks both world-renowned and under-appreciated. Close to Tintoretto’s monumental portrait of the Saint in the church of San Marziale, discover the Four Evangelists by Giulia Lama, the first woman in Venice to be commissioned by the church to create art.
Later that afternoon, wander to the baroque Ca’ Rezzonico. This palazzo reveals extraordinary ceiling frescos by Giovanni Battista Tiepolo, which overlook the intimate pastel portraits of Rosalba Carriera, who was considered one of the most influential woman artists of the 18th century. Viewing the city through the lens of ecclesiastical politics and Venetian society at that time, casts new light on the legacy of these pioneering figures.

DAY THREE
Meet the women gallerists at the forefront of the city’s contemporary art scene. In the sestiere of Dorsoduro, start the day with exclusive access to renowned galleries before stepping inside the workshops and studios of the women behind the artworks. Spend the afternoon at leisure. In the evening, dock at the Palazzo Venier dei Leoni along the Grand Canal, the former home of art collector and patron Peggy Guggenheim. A private, after-hours tour reveals the world’s finest cache of futurist, abstract expressionist and surrealist art.
